4 Things Your Competitor Doesn’t Know About Healthcare SEO

A good healthcare SEO (search engine optimization) strategy will drive organic traffic to your website by ensuring you rank high in Google searches related to your offerings. However, medical SEO isn’t just about targeting the right keyword. 

These four SEO practices will go beyond simply choosing a keyword and will increase the quantity and the quality of visitors to your website.

1) Utilize Long-Tail Keywords

Long-tail keywords have less competition and higher conversion because they ensure your content shows up in the right searches. With long-tail keywords, you are more likely to show up on the first page of Google for quality searches which directly relate to your offerings. For example, the keyword phrase “healthcare company” will be harder to rank for and will attract visitors from all over the country, while the long-tail keyword phrase “best healthcare company in Charlotte, North Carolina” will be easier to rank for and attract visitors local to an area. 

2) Structure Your Article Around Your Targeted Keyword

After choosing a long-tail keyword, you should include the phrase in your webpage or blog post title, the first paragraph, the URL, and the meta description. 3) Include LSI Keywords in Your Content

Once you have your targeted keyword (hopefully a long-tail phrase), it’s time to search for LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords, or similar terms for that target keyword. If you are writing a blog post on what to look for in a family doctor, your LSI keyword phrases might be “find a family doctor,” “find a general practitioner,” “family doctor in Charlotte,” and “general health care services.” LSI keywords are not included in the title like the target keyword, but are sprinkled throughout the article. You can find relevant LSIs through the related searches tool on the bottom of Google search pages.

4) Links Are Your Digital Marketing Friend

When you use external links to other websites and internal links to other content on your website, you increase the legitimacy of a webpage or blog. External links to authority sources demonstrate to Google that you understand where your content falls in the larger digital marketing landscape, while internal links build up the authority of the page you’re linking to. Include 2-5 outbound links to expert sources and 2-5 internal links to older pages from your website that you want to rank higher in search results. 

Long-tail keywords, including LSI keywords, and utilizing internal and external links can make your web presence more competitive in search results. A good SEO strategy goes beyond finding relevant keywords and should be integrated throughout any webpage or blog post.
